On Wednesday 15th June, many people across the globe will have the chance to see one of nature's most spectacular sights - a long total eclipse of the moon.
Astronomers have promised that it will be much more than a normal eclipse of the moon.  It is set to be one of the darkest ever, making the visual experience even more intense than it usually is.
The best places to observe the phenomenon will be the southern part of the Asian continent, Eastern Europe and most especially northern Africa, but the rest of Europe will also be able to enjoy it, provided they are watching the moon just before nightfall.
People in Spain are being advised to look in an easterly-south easterly direction, where the phenomenon will be visible for approximately seven hours from the onset of nightfall.
Although the phenomenon will be visible to the naked eye, the lunar eclipse will be much clearer if viewed out in the countryside, well away from city lights .
