GAUCÍN: Balcony of the Ronda Mountains where the Holy Child appeared to St. John of God.
The illustrious, always noble, very hospitable village of Gaucín.

On Sunday August 25th we begin the Santo Niño festivities with the Romería a la Adelfilla. The procession starts at the church at 08:30, passing through the plazoleta at approximately 09:00 before heading down the Camino Gibraltar to the Hermita. Once the “Romeros” have arrived there will be a mass at 11:00 followed by music from “Los Latidos”, free paella and a bar. The ascent back up to the village is at 18:30 after which the image of the Santo Niño is taken to the castle chapel.

Festivities continue as follows:

Saturday August 31st to Friday September 6th

A service will be held in the castle chapel each day at 19:30 with mass at 20:00.

 Saturday September 7th

0900:  - procession through the village accompanied by the band “Villa de Gaucín”.  The route starts at Ana Toval and passes through Barrio Carmen, to Calles Convento, Santo Niño, Cañamaque, Alta, Nueva,Bancos and calle Barrio Alto.

1200: Solemn bell ringing

1900: Procession taking the image of Santo Niño from the castle to the church, pausing at the cemetery for the laying of flowers. Mass will be held in the church.

2300: Party in the Plaza with bands “Grupo Dynamic” and “Latidos”

 Sunday September 8th

0900:  - procession through the village accompanied by the band “Villa de Gaucín”.  The route is as Saturday.

1200: Mass in the church 

1730: Solemn procession from the church through the village. All house owners along the route are invited to decorate the front of their houses for the passing of this procession.

2300: Party in the Plaza with bands “Grupo Dynamic” and “Latidos”

 

Please note that there is an entrance fee to enter the plaza for the two nights of parties.
